  • What are some indicators that I should give therapy a try?

Each person is individual and what affects one person may be no big deal for another. However, if you are finding yourself anxious more often than not, dreading going to work everyday, struggling to find motivation, having consistent low energy, feeling irritable, having recurrent thoughts of past trauma, or having trouble sleeping, these are just some of the many things that may be a signal it’s time to seek some support.  Engaging in therapy can be a great tool to get at the source of what is happening and develop better coping skills.

  • What should I expect in therapy?

When you arrive to your first appointment you will be welcomed by a comfortable waiting area.  At the start of your appointment your clinician will come out to greet you and bring you back to the office space.   You will spend the first session getting to know each other a bit.  We will ask some questions to help me learn more about what is happening for you right now and what your goals are for our time together.  If after the first meeting you feel like your clinician is a good fit for you, you would then pick an ongoing appointment time. Appointments are typically 45-50 minutes in length, are scheduled weekly, and continue for as long as needed to reach your goals. Consistency of appointments is necessary to receive the most benefit from therapeutic services.

  • What is telemental health?

Telemental health is therapy conducted by electronic means.  In our practice, we utilize a secure video chat platform in order to conduct individual sessions online.  Clients must be physically located within the state of Virginia to utilize this option.
